How the readiness score works

Your readiness is the share of the level’s requirements you meet: the skills you rate at or above the expected level, plus the certifications you hold, divided by all the skills and certifications that level requires.

A skill you have not rated counts as not met. The score shows at most 99% until every requirement is met, so 100% always means nothing is missing.

It is the same formula Competrace uses for promotion readiness. In Competrace it runs on assessment results instead of one self-rating: each person rates themselves, colleagues add their ratings, and an admin sets the final mark.

Where the expected levels come from

The skills and the level expected for each one come from our public job description library: 16 departments and 80 job descriptions, one per career level. Your company may expect different levels. In Competrace you can change every skill and every expected level.

What to do with your gaps

Start with one or two gaps, not all of them. Pick the ones that matter most for the work you want to do next, and agree with your manager how you will close them: a course, a stretch project or pairing with someone who already has the skill.

A self-rating is a starting point. Ask a colleague or your manager to rate you too, and compare the two.
