Competrace is a hosted web application. It has a public REST API (`/api/v1`, org-scoped API keys, docs at https://competrace.com/developers) and a Zapier app. There is no MCP server. Without a key from an organization's admin, an agent cannot read or write that organization's data; what it can do is explain the product, compare its pricing, and point a person at the right page to sign up or sign in. ## What it does - **Competency frameworks** — your own skills, skill categories, career levels and mastery scale. New workspaces start from a seeded starter library rather than an empty page. - **Assessments** — many assessors per employee, self-assessment included. Ratings are independent; written feedback reaches admins unattributed. - **Skill gap analysis** — a per-employee Growth page: a radar against the current and next career level, and the gaps still to close, biggest shortfall first. - **Promotion readiness** — the share of next-level skill expectations an employee's latest assessment already meets, ranked across the org. - **Team skills matrix and dashboard** — average mastery, career-level distribution per department, and who is overdue for review. - **Hiring toolkit** — vacancy text generated from your framework for any department and career level. - **AI assistant** — admins ask questions about their own team's skills, levels and assessments in plain language. Competrace is free for up to 10 users. The paid plan adds seats, an extended AI quota and priority support. Every product feature is already in the free plan. The people who set it up are team and engineering managers, and HR or People leads running the same process across departments. The size range it suits is 5 to 500 people: the free plan covers up to 10 users, the paid plan includes 50, and pricing is quoted up to 500. Below five people a document still works.
